"Gina Lieneck has made it her mission to turn tragedy into triumph so that other families can be spared the heartbreak that her family has endured. I commend the State Senate for passing this common sense boating safety legislation and urge the Assembly to follow their lead. Let’s get this done and sent to the Governor’s desk.”
Background:
Gina Lieneck, a resident of Deer Park, NY has been fighting for years to get a new boating safety law passed in honor of her daughter, Brianna Lieneck. In 2005, Brianna Lieneck, who was 11-years-old at the time, died after a boat crashed into their family craft on the Great South Bay. Gina Lieneck has been working to pass "Brianna's Law," which would require mandatory boating safety classes for mariners of all ages.
