Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced the schedule of events for the month of June at Suffolk County Department of Parks facilities. After record attendance of more than 25,000 visitors at County Parks over Memorial Day week, the various events this month aim to continue to promote Suffolk’s robust network of pristine parks.
"With summer right around the corner, our parks are gearing up for yet another successful season of family fun," said County Executive Bellone. "Whether you want to enjoy the day outdoors, catch a show, or spend the day learning a little history, this month there is something for everyone to enjoy."
Throughout the entire month of June, Weekend Walking Tours will be taking place on Saturdays and Sundays at three separate County locations, including Meadow Croft Estate from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sagtikos Manor from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, and Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
Additionally, every second day and last Sunday of the Month from June through October, Long Island Live Steamers will be offering rides on miniature steam trains through the wooded trails at Southaven County Park. Tickets are required to ride and while tickets remain free, donations will be accepted.
