The Suffolk County Board of Ethics continues to take steps to reduce the potential for exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Please be advised that the prior notice of a public meeting of the Suffolk County Board of Ethics to be held on August 19, 2020 at 9:30 am is hereby amended in accordance with Governor Cuomo’s recent Executive Order 202.1, which has suspended certain provisions of Article 7 of the Public Officer’s Law relating to Open Meetings.
In his Executive Order, the Governor has ordered the following as it relates to the Open Meetings Law:
Suspension of law allowing the attendance of meetings telephonically or other similar service:
Article 7 of the Public Officers Law, to the extent necessary to permit any public body to meet and take such actions authorized by the law without permitting public in-person access to meetings and authorizing such meetings to be held remotely by conference call or similar service, provided that the public has the ability to view or listen to such proceeding and that such meetings are recorded and later transcribed.
The Board of Ethics must keep its scheduled meeting on August 19, 2020 at 9:30 am to take actions essential to the continuing operations of the Board, as set forth in the attached agenda. That meeting has been previously noticed.
The Board of Ethics will meet in-person at 395 Oser Avenue, Hauppauge, New York in Conference Room 27, with one member of the Board of Ethics participating by conference call in accordance with the Executive Order.. In accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order 202.1, please be further notified that the meeting shall be conducted without permitting in-person access by the public.
While no public participation will be entertained, the public will be provided with the opportunity to dial into the call at 9:30 am to listen as follows:
