COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - July 9, 2020, 4:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on July 9, 2020. Last updated July 8, 2020

Total Persons Tested

  • 364,839 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 5.372 tests
  • 11.5 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 0.9 percent positive results for Long Island in the last reported 24-hour period

Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 41,849 total cases
  • 50 new cases

Antibody Testing

  • 185,120 total tested for antibodies
  • 20,281 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 7 new fatalities (NOTE: the seven fatalities are not recent and were added as a result of New York State’s data reconciliation from March and April)
  • 1,991 total fatalities

Hospitalization, numbers from July 8, updated July 9 at 4:30 p.m.

  • 54 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 2
  • 10 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 1
  • 11 new admissions
  • 12 discharged
  • 5,455 discharged since March 22

NY Forward Statewide Guidelines

Beginning on June 25, persons traveling to New York, New Jersey or Connecticut from any state that has an infection rate above 10 per 100,000 on the seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the total population positive on a seven-day rolling average are  required to quarantine for 14-days. As of today, the states that are above that level include:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Idaho
  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • Mississippi
  • Nevada
  • North Carolina
