Covid-19 Case Update August 12, 2021 5pm

Correction to Hospital Data

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 12, 2021. Last updated August 11, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of August 12, 2021             

  • 952,842 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 3,608
  • 64.3% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 77.2% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose  
  • 860,340 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,986
  • 58.0% percent of the total population has completed the COVID-19 vaccine series

  • Vaccination rates by zip code
  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On August 11, 2021

  • 10,220 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 4,636,181 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 335 new cases were reported
  • 208,020 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 3.3% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 3.8% positive on a 7-day average
  • 3.5% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 3.6% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

  • 70,237 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 395,126 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 4 fatalities
  • 3,423 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from August 11, 2021

  • 133 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 11 in 24 hours
  •  25 were new admissions
  • 25 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 5 in 24 hours
  • 10 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 14 were discharged since the last report
  • 15,031 have been discharged since March 22,2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,142 hospital beds, 631 available, 20%
  • 400 ICU beds, 120 available, 30%

Current New York State Travel Advisory Information
As of June 25, 2021, the New York State Travel Advisory is no longer in effect.  As such, travelers arriving in New York are no longer required to submit traveler health forms. All travelers, domestic and international, should continue to follow all CDC travel requirements.
