Covid-19 Case Update August 16, 2021 4:30pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 16, 2021. Last updated August 15, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of August 16, 2021             

·        961,147 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,366

·        64.9% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose

·        77.8% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose  

·        865,891 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 2,850

·        58.4% percent of the total population has completed the COVID-19 vaccine series

·        Vaccination rates by zip code

·        Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms. Answers to your vaccine questions can be found on this page, as well.

·        If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On August 15, 2021

·        8,491  COVID-19 tests were administered

·        4,674,972 total tests have been administered since March 2020

·        476 new cases were reported

·        209,612 total cases have been reported since March 2020

·        4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19

·        5.6% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 4.0% positive on a 7-day average

·        4.9% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 3.8% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

·        71,299 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

·        396,405 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

·        0 fatalities

·        3,426 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from August 15, 2021

·        145 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 13 in 24 hours

·        23 were new admissions

·        29 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 2 in 24 hours

·        11 patients were in the ICU and intubated

·        16  were discharged since the last report

·        15,114 have been discharged since March 22,2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

·        3,142 hospital beds, 694 available, 22%

·        394 ICU beds, 136 available, 35%
