Covid-19 Case Update August 18, 2021 3:45pm

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 18, 2021. Last updated August 17, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of August 18, 2021             

·        966,014 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 2,810

·        65.2% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose

·        78.1% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose  

·        869,370 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,835

·        58.6% percent of the total population has completed the COVID-19 vaccine series

·        Vaccination rates by zip code

·        Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms. Answers to your vaccine questions can be found on this page, as well.

·        If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On August 17, 2021

·        12,631 COVID-19 tests were administered

·        4,693,200 total tests have been administered since March 2020

·        528 new cases were reported

·        210,420 total cases have been reported since March 2020

·        4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19

·        4.2% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 4.1% positive on a 7-day average

·        4.0% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 3.9% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

·        71,662 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

·        396,861 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

·        4 fatalities

·        3,434 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from August 17, 2021

·        151 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 9 in 24 hours

·        28 were new admissions

·        26 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 1 in 24 hours

·        12 patients were in the ICU and intubated

·        23 were discharged since the last report

·        15,159 have been discharged since March 22,2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

·        3,101 hospital beds, 626 available, 20%

·        395 ICU beds, 120 available, 30%
