SUFFOLK COUNTY EXECUTIVE BELLONE DIRECTS COUNTY BUILDINGS TO LOWER FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF IN HONOR OF CAPITAL GAZETTE SHOOTING VICTIMS
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today directed County buildings to lower flags at half-staff to honor the lives lost in the senseless mass shooting at the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Maryland on June 28.
“Suffolk County stands with the victims, their families and loved ones that were affected by the tragedy that occurred one week ago today,” said Suffolk County Executive Bellone. “At the same time, thoughts and prayers are not enough. It is time for Washington to pass common sense legislation to keep all Americans safe from the scourge of gun violence.”
Newsrooms across the country will also hold a moment of silence at 2:33 PM today in solidarity with the Capital Gazette, where five people lost their lives.
