COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - December 15, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on December 15, 2021. Last updated December 14, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,145,674  people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 10,099
  • 1,033,098  people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 7,390
  • 77.4% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 90.5% of the population ages 18 and older has received at least one dose.
  • 69.7% percent of the total population is fully vaccinated.
  • 82.8% of the population ages 18 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 80.5% of the population ages 12 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 74.4% of the population ages 5 and older is fully vaccinated.

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older as well as booster doses to all who are eligible. Appointments are recommended. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms. COVID-19 Case Tracker- on December 14, 2021

  • 13,904 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 6,098,326 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 1,312 new cases were reported
  • 88.6 cases per 100k; 74.2 on a 7-day average
  • 270,596 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 9.4% tested positive in Suffolk County; 7.7% positive on a 7-day average
  • 8.5% tested positive on Long Island; 7.1% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies:
  • On December 13, 2021:  100,741 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 428,769  total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 5 fatalities
  • 3,726 total fatalities since March 2020

  Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data from December 13, 2021

  • 306  individuals were hospitalized, increase of 14  in 24 hours
  • 50 were new admissions
  • 53  patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an decrease of 1  in 24 hours
  • 25 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 48  were discharged since the last report
  • 17,827  have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 775  available, 25%
  • 387  ICU beds, 86 available, 22%
