COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - January 3, 2022

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 3, 2022. Last updated January 2,  2022

COVID-19 Vaccine Information, for January 2

  • 1,165,268 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 394
  • 1,049,053 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 398.
  • 78.7% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose.
  • 91.5% of the population ages 18 and older has received at least one dose.
  • 70.8% percent of the total population is fully vaccinated.
  • 83.5% of the population ages 18 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 81.3% of the population ages 12 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 75.4% of the population ages 5 and older is fully vaccinated.

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older as well as booster doses to all who are eligible. Appointments are recommended. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms. COVID-19 Case Tracker- January 2, 2022

  • 15,374 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 6,461,613 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 4,193 new cases were reported
  • 283.1 cases per 100k;  353.2 on a 7-day average
  • 337,149 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 27.3% tested positive in Suffolk County; 25.9% positive on a 7-day average
  • 26.8% tested positive on Long Island; 24.9% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: On January 2, 2022: 103,297  individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 431,573  total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County, January 2, 2022

  • 8 fatalities:
  • 3,834  fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, January 2, 2022

  • 785 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 48 in 24 hours
  • 130 were new admissions
  • 118 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 5 in 24 hours
  • 50 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 77 were discharged since the last report
  • 18,945 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 925 available, 30%
  • 378 ICU beds, 91 available, 24%
