Covid-19 Case Update January 6, 2022

 

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 6, 2022. Last updated January 5,  2022

COVID-19 Vaccine Information, for January 5

  • 1,169,178 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 1,230.
  • 1,051,797 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 957.
  • 78.9% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose.
  • 91.7% of the population ages 18 and older has received at least one dose.
  • 71.0% percent of the total population is fully vaccinated.
  • 83.6% of the population ages 18 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 75.7% of the population ages 5 and older is fully vaccinated.
  •         33.3% of fully vaccinated population have had a booster dose

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older as well as booster doses to all who are eligible. Appointments are recommended. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • 25 565 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 6,524,273 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 6,977 new cases were reported
  • 471.1 cases per 100k; 391.5 on a 7-day average
  • 354,277 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 27.3% tested positive in Suffolk County; 27.5% positive on a 7-day average
  • 26.7% tested positive on Long Island; 26.8% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: On January 5, 2022: 103,775  individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 tested positive for antibodies; 432,132  total were tested for antibodies.   

Fatalities, Suffolk County, January 5, 2022

  • 16 fatalities:
  • 3,877  fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, January 5, 2022

  • 910 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 35 in 24 hours
  • 159 were new admissions
  • 118 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 2 in 24 hours
  • 53 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 132 were discharged since the last report
  • 19,262 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 677 available, 21%
  • 393 ICU beds, 72 available, 23%
