COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - January 17, 2022

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on January 17, 2022. Last updated January 16, 2022

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,182,198 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 453
  • 1,061,357 people is fully vaccinated, an increase of 368
  • 79.8% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose.
  • 92.4% of the population ages 18 and older has received at least one dose.
  • 71.6% percent of the total population is fully vaccinated.
  • 84.1% of the population ages 18 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 76.4% of the population ages 5 and older is fully vaccinated.
  • 37.0% of fully vaccinated population have had a booster dose

  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering COVID vaccines to Suffolk County residents who are age 5 and older as well as booster doses to all who are eligible. Appointments are recommended. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • 11 fatalities:
  • 4,030 fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, January 16, 2022

  • 945 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 35 in 24 hours
  • 77 were new admissions
  • 138 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 1 in 24 hours
  • 81 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 102 were discharged since the last report
  • 20,772 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 750 available, 26%
  • 399 ICU beds, 95 available, 33%
