Economic Development Programs


  • INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (IDA) - Provides financial assistance for expansion, new construction and equipment purchase for profit and not-for-profit projects.
  • Through the SUFFOLK COUNTY EMPLOYER ASSISTED HOUSING PROGRAM - Suffolk County can assist businesses to recruit and retain quality workers. Employees of a participating business or those who are relocating due to employment are eligible to receive financial assistance towards the purchase of a home as well as free homebuyer counseling.
  • SUFFOLK COUNTY FOREIGN-TRADE ZONE #52 - The FTZ offers an exemption on duties and excise taxes on certain products imported into and out of the Zone. The program is available to businesses located in Suffolk County who wish to utilize the FTZ within their own facility.


  • OMBUDSMAN SERVICES (BUSINESS ADVOCATE) - Should plans call for construction or expansion at your site, we will guide your applications through the permitting process with the Suffolk County Department of Health Services and, if applicable, the Suffolk County Sewer Agency. We will also coordinate and assist with permitting from the NYS DEC and any other state, federal or local agencies. Contact 631-853-4805.
  • THE SUFFOLK COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, LICENSING & CONSUMER AFFAIRS offers a wide range of services to Suffolk County businesses. These services include posting your positions, referring qualified candidates, hosting and marketing a customized hiring event for your company, and helping you train new workers.
  • MANUFACTURING TRAINING PROGRAM - Suffolk County Community College offers training in Manufacturing, Machining Techniques, Auto CAD, Soldering, NCN and will work with manufacturing firms to customize training for specific needs. Contact 631-851-6225.
  • Cultural Arts, Film Production and Tourism
    • Your employees can find out about all of the cultural events, music and film festivals, and community arts groups at
