NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY Francis S. Gabreski Airport (FOK), Suffolk County Proposed Fixed Based Operator and Hangar Facilities Project Draft Environmental Assessment

Suffolk County, as owner and operator of Francis S. Gabreski Airport (the Airport or FOK), has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the Proposed Fixed Based Operator and Hangar Facilities Project (Proposed Action) at FOK. The Proposed Action is comprised of three separate aeronautical developments at the Airport, proposed by three private independent entities, namely: Signature Aviation is proposing to construct and operate a new Fixed Based Operator (FBO) facility; Northside Hangars, LLC, is proposing to construct and operate 46 new private aircraft hangars intended for single and multiengine propeller aircraft; and True North WHB, LLC, is proposing to construct and operate 10 new private aircraft hangars intended for single and multi-engine propeller aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the lead federal agency to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) for airport development actions. The Draft EA has been prepared pursuant to the requirements of Section 102(2)(c) of NEPA, and Section 509(b)(5) of the Airport and Airway Improvement Act of 1982, as amended, as well as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Order 1050.1F, Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures, FAA Order 5050.4B, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Implementing Instructions for Airport Actions, and FAA Order 1050.1 Desk Reference.

Beginning March 21, 2024, the Draft EA will be available for public review on the Airport’s homepage within the Airport Sponsor’s website: gabreski-airport.org. A physical copy of the Draft EA is available at FOK’s Administrative Building #1:

While you can ask in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information, it cannot be guaranteed that it will be withheld. Comments received on the Draft EA and responses to those comments will be incorporated into the Final EA.
