The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) coordinates the county’s response to natural and man-made disasters. OEM personnel are responsible for development of the Comprehensive All-Hazards Emergency Management Plan, the operation of the county’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC) and work with local, state, and federal officials in all aspects of shelter management, planning, resource management, and emergency response and recovery activities.

If you believe that you have been exposed to biological, chemical or radiological agent, or if you believe an intentional threat will occur please contact local emergency responders by calling 911. Dial "911" only for life-threatening emergencies. Do not dial "911" for information. Dial "852-COPS" for non-emergency Police calls in Suffolk County.
To get more information during and after an emergency, listen to your local television and radio broadcasts. If needed, contact local authorities such as the police, emergency management office, or health department. Please do not call a 911 or other emergency telephone line unless you need assistance with an immediate physical or medical emergency.
