Weather permitting, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of Fire Island as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.  Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued the next suitable day. 

Weather permitting; the Suffolk County Department of Public Works is planning to treat sections of the following communities as part of their ongoing annual efforts to control adult mosquitoes.

Suffolk County Health Services (SCDHS) Commissioner James L. Tomarken announced today that   12 additional samples have tested positive for West Nile virus. The samples, all Culex pipiens-restuans, were collected on July 22^nd, from  Huntington Station (1), Northport (1), and South Huntington (1), and July 23rd, from West Babylon (6), Rocky Point (1), and Copaigue (2).
