Article 11 of the Suffolk County Sanitary Code requires that any business in possession of a New York State Tobacco Retail Dealer License must also have at least one employee in possession of a Suffolk County Tobacco Vendor Education Certificate.
How do I obtain a Suffolk County Tobacco Vendor Education Certificate?
The Department of Health Services provides this training in both a traditional classroom setting and in an online format. Students who successfully complete the course are issued a certificate that must be renewed every three years. Additionally, section 1399-ee of the Public Health Law allows tobacco and vapor product retailers a reduced penalty for a sale-to-minor violation if the clerk who made the sale previously attended a State Certified Tobacco Sales Training course and holds a valid certificate of completion.
There is fee of $50 for this course.
