The Suffolk Works Employment Program (SWEP) assists individuals and families that qualify for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Safety Net Assistance (SN), as well as individuals receiving Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP) benefits.
We enable our participants by:
- Addressing and evaluating your employment goals.
- Identifying resources needed for your success in the workplace.
- Working together with you to develop a plan of action designed for foster your success.
- Referring you to one or more work activities to enhance your ability to find employment, such as:
Supervised Job Search: We can assist you in monitoring your efforts on a weekly basis, developing or updating your resume, counseling you on your strategies and providing you with resources to aid in your success.
Work Experience: In partnership with non-profit or governmental agencies, we assign participants to workplaces where they assist staff in various capacities. Participants often acquire new skills, develop sound references and generate current work history to cite when applying for employment.
Short-Term Training: When funding is available, eligible participants may be referred to educational activities leading to earning credentials necessary to secure employment.
