In August 2024 a historically powerful and damaging storm swept across Suffolk County, leaving behind tremendous damage in its wake. The floods caused by a torrent of rain caused the dam in historic Blydenburgh Park to fail, allowing Stump Pond to completely drain. Stump Pond is a storied body of water, the centerpiece of Blydenburgh Park, a world-class fishing location, and a jewel of the community.
County Executive Ed Romaine has pledged to rebuild the dam and restore Stump Pond.
This website will provide updates on the project. If you have any questions, please email Michael.martino@suffolkcountyny.gov
The county will also post information on its social media channels.
We will rebuild this dam, and we will once again see majestic Stump Pond and all of its natural beauty brought back to Blydenburgh Park.
