Crab Meadow Beach Reopened
Great Pond at Peconic Dunes Camp Remains Closed
The beach closure for Crab Meadow Beach in the Town of Huntington has been lifted, as
results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within
acceptable levels.
According
to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in water contaminated
with bacteria can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of
the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
Additionally, the beach closure issued for Great Pond Beach at
Peconic Dunes Camp remains in effect.
