Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone released the following statement in response to the FDA releasing the agency’s proposed regulations restricting e-cigarette sales.
“New enforcement actions are needed immediately to curb the vaping epidemic that has taken our youth by storm. While we have taken swift action in Suffolk to crack down on the illegal sale of e-cigarettes to minors by increasing penalties and continue to implement new educational programs, the time has come for the FDA to step in and regulate these sweet, fruit flavored e-cigarettes that are targeting our young ones and causing serious damage to their health.”
