COVID-19 CASE UPDATE - August 15, 2021, 4:30 p.m.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 15, 2021. Last updated August 14, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information - As of August 15, 2021             

  • 959,781 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 2,606
  • 64.8% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 77.7% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose  
  • 863,041 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,701
  • 58.3% percent of the total population has completed the COVID-19 vaccine series

  • Vaccination rates by zip code
  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

COVID-19 Viral Testing- On August 14, 2021

  • 9,067  COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 4,666,481 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 340 new cases were reported
  • 209,136 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  • 4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 3.7% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 3.8% positive on a 7-day average
  • 3.8% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 3.7% positive on a 7-day average

Antibody Testing Suffolk County

  • 71,081 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies
  • 396,178 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 0 fatalities
  • 3,426 total fatalities

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from August 14, 2021

  • 132 individuals were hospitalized, a decrease of 8  in 24 hours
  • 23 were new admissions
  • 27 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a decrease of 2 in 24 hours
  • 12 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 28  were discharged since the last report
  • 15,098 have been discharged since March 22,2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,122 hospital beds, 724 available, 23%
  • 396 ICU beds, 136 available, 35%
