COVID-19 Case Update - September 24, 2021

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on September 24, 2021. Last updated September 23, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • 1,045,790 people have received at least one vaccine dose, an increase of 2,267
  • 936,091 people have completed their vaccine series, an increase of 1,803
  • 70.6% of the total population of 1,481,093 has received at least one dose
  • 84.1% of the population ages 18+ has received at least one dose
  • 63.2% percent of the total population has completed the vaccine series
  • 76.0% of the population ages 18+ has completed the vaccine series, as of September 23, 2021
  • 73.6% of the population ages 12+ has completed the vaccine series, as of September 23, 2021

  • Vaccination rates by zip code
  • Walk-in vaccination clinics are offering vaccine to residents who are age 12 and older. No appointment is needed. Medical practitioners and EMS are on-site at all times to answer questions and tend to concerns. Click here for locations and times and parental consent forms.   • If you are confined to your home and wish to receive your COVID-19 vaccination, call 311. We will take your name and you will be called to schedule your free vaccination at home.

  • 16,241 COVID-19 tests were administered
  • 5,110,302 total tests have been administered since March 2020
  • 549 new cases were reported
  • 228,718 total cases have been reported since March 2020
  •  4.5% of those tested since March 2021 have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 3.4% tested positive in Suffolk County yesterday; 3.9% positive on a 7-day average
  • 3.0% tested positive on Long Island yesterday; 3.5% positive on a 7-day average

  • COVID Antibodies: 81,320 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies; 408,142 total were tested for antibodies

Fatalities, Suffolk County

  • 4 fatalities
  • 3,523 total fatalities since March 2020

Hospitalization, Suffolk County, data is from September 23, 2021

  • 224 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 8 in 24 hours
  • 30 were new admissions
  •  40 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), no change in 24 hours
  • 25 patients were in the ICU and intubated
  • 25 were discharged since the last report
  • 16,131 have been discharged since March 22, 2020

Hospital Capacity, Suffolk County

  • 3,101 hospital beds, 570 available, 18%
  •  397 ICU beds, 109 available, 27%
