SUFFOLK COUNTY EXECUTIVE BELLONE ANNOUNCES GLAMPING SITES COMING TO CEDAR POINT COUNTY PARK THIS SUMMER

Newest “Stay Suffolk” Tourism Initiative to Promote Upscale Recreational Camping Amenities

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced the selection of a winning proposal for a Glamping Concession at Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton, Long Island.  The winning proposal was awarded to EH Resorts, LLC, a company with nearly a decade of industry experience in New York and across the country. Glamping, a term coined from combining glamorous with camping, is an up-and-coming recreational activity gaining widespread popularity nationwide.

"Glamping is the latest trend for vacationers and we are excited to bring this new fad to Cedar Point later this summer,” said Suffolk County Executive Bellone. “This new respite will allow visitors to enjoy the fun of camping without being totally disconnected from their modern amenities.”

Phil Berdolt, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Parks Department, said: “Whether it’s visiting our nationally ranked beaches and parks or simply taking a ride out to the Hamptons, Suffolk County remains as center of national tourism with something for everyone. Glamping has the potential to give frequent campers a heightened and luxurious experience of a lifetime while maintaining the ability to draw first time campers to the outdoors.”

EH Resorts, LLC, offering glamping at Cedar Point run by managers Rebecca Martin and David Levine, will provide a myriad of amenities for residents and visitors who are looking to enjoy Suffolk County’s unique scenery of Cedar Point, including the picturesque view overlooking the Gardiners Bay. The 607-acre park offers nature trails, hiking, picnicking, fishing areas, licensed waterfowl hunting, boat rentals, scuba diving and is home to the Cedar Island Lighthouse.

The location will feature up to 40 water-facing sleeping tents, luxury bathroom/showers, a campfire area, lounge tent, outdoor lounge areas and kitchen area. Guests can opt for either a two or four person luxury glamping tent and will receive flush toilets and hot showers with complimentary bath products. All guests will also have access to the Glamping kitchen, including grill, place ware, flatware and cooler refrigeration. The resort will be ADA compliant and will not take away from any current campsites currently available at the park.

The glamping vendor also plans to hold on-site events such as yoga/wellness retreats, multi-day masterclasses such as photography, farm-to-table dinners, corporate retreats and more in the future. The Glamping Concession plans to provide glamping throughout the regular camping season, April to October.  With glamping on the rise, Suffolk County’s first glamping location follows New York City’s announcement of glamping grounds on Governors Island. Offering chef-prepared meals and views of the Manhattan Skyline, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, glamping has been widely trending throughout the region.

County Executive Bellone’s “Stay Suffolk” tourism campaign is designed to promote Long Island’s $5.3 billion tourism industry and encourage Suffolk County residents to explore parks and enjoy activities close to home. “Stay Suffolk” encourages residents to take advantage of the many world-class amenities that Suffolk has to offer and visit the attractions that bring over 9.1 million people to the County each year. The tourism industry in Suffolk County accounts for over 40,000 jobs and generates more than $365 million in local and state taxes alone.  For more information on Suffolk County parks, campgrounds and amenities visit here
