Suffolk County Identifies Agencies Participating in Project Hope
Grant program offers crisis counseling to residents in communities affected by Sandy
The Division of Community Mental Hygiene has identified six experienced mental health agencies to participate in Project Hope, an initiative that is providing brief crisis counseling, outreach and education to residents in those communities that were hard hit by Super Storm Sandy.
Project Hope is a mental health and community awareness grant program that is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health in partnership with local governments. Suffolk County will receive $972,209 in grant funding to implement the immediate phase of the program. It is expected that the program will receive additional funding over a period that will span approximately nine months.
