Health Officials Warn of Three New Cyanobacteria Blooms

Three Persisting Cyanobacteria Blooms Flourish in East End Water Bodies

NYSDEC has reported that cyanobacteria (also known as blue-green algae) have exceeded bloom criteria in three new water bodies in Suffolk County: Old Town Pond in Southampton, Kellis Pond in Bridgehampton and Wainscott Pond in Wainscott.  Blue-green algae also persist at Agawam Lake and Mill Pond in Southampton, Maratooka Lake in Mattituck, and at parts of Lake Ronkonkoma. * 

Four Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Suffolk County Health Services Commissioner Dr. James L. Tomarken announced today that four more mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus.

Pesticide Notification

If weather permits, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of the following communities as part of its ongoing annual effort to control adult mosquitoes.
