Two North Shore Beaches Close to Bathing

These beaches will remain closed until health officials are able to determine that the water quality is acceptable.  In most cases, beaches that are closed will be sampled on a daily basis an effort to reopen them as soon as possible. 

Aerial Larvicide Scheduled

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.  Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day.

Mosquito Spraying

Weather permitting, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of the following communities as part of its ongoing annual effort to control the mosquito population.

Advisory Issued Against Bathing at 47 Suffolk County Beaches Due to Heavy Rainfall

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services has issued an advisory against bathing at 47 beaches due to the heavy rainfall that occurred Tuesday evening, July 23, 2013. The advisory is based on the potential that bacterial numbers in excess of New York State standards, resulting from the heavy rain, will impact these areas.
