Board of Review Hearings

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Division of Environmental Quality will hold its regular monthly Board of Review hearing on Thursday, December 13th, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room at 360 Yaphank Ave., Suite 2C, Yaphank, NY 11980.

In the event that a quorum cannot be achieved, the Board of Health meeting will be canceled.  It is advisable to call 631-854-0100 the day of the meeting to find out if the meeting will take place.

Suffolk County Extends Offer of Free Well Testing to Homeowners with On-Site Wells Impacted by Sandy

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services announced today that it will offer free well testing to homeowners whose wells have been impacted by Super Storm Sandy and that are located outside of Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) service area. This follows the announcement of November 22, 2012, that the Suffolk County Water Authority would provide free well testing to residents with concerns about private wells located within the SCWA service area.

Suffolk Waives Rebuilding Fees and Expedites Building Review Process for Super Storm Sandy Victims

County Executive Steve Bellone and Dr. James Tomarken, Commissioner of the Department of Health Services, announced today that the Department of Health Services will waive application and permit fees and provide an expedited review process for home owners and businesses that are faced with storm-related rebuilding.

Not Too Late to Benefit from Flu Vaccine

Citing a recent report by the New York State Department of Health declaring a sharp rise in the number of flu cases in 34 counties in New York State, including Suffolk County, Dr. James Tomarken, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, is urging all residents who have not yet received their annual flu vaccinations to do so as soon as possible. Flu season usually peaks in January or later and can last as late as May.
