New Cyanobacteria Blooms in Stony Brook and Southampton

Sampling performed by SUNY Stony Brook has confirmed the presence of a new cyanobacteria bloom, more commonly known as blue–green algae, at Mill Pond in Watermill, Town of Southampton, and at Roth Pond at the SUNY Stony Brook campus in Stony Brook. Cyanobacteria blooms currently remain at Agawam Lake, Village of Southampton as well.

Aerial Mosquito Larvicide Notice

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.  Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day.
