Suffolk County Activates Public Health Information Line

County Executive Steve Bellone and Commissioner of Health Services Dr. James Tomarken announced today the activation of the Public Health Information Line: 631-787-2200. The Information Line is being employed to enhance continuing efforts to detect and prevent the spread of communicable illnesses in Suffolk County. The line is now available from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

New Cyanobacteria Blooms in Lake Ronkonkoma and Southampton

Recent sampling performed by SUNY Stony Brook has confirmed new cyanobacteria blooms, more commonly known as blue–green algae, in Lake Ronkonkoma off Pond Road in the Town of Brookhaven and Mill Pond in Southampton.

Recent sampling performed by SUNY Stony Brook has confirmed new cyanobacteria blooms in Lake Ronkonkoma off Pond Road in the Town of Brookhaven and Mill Pond in Southampton.

New Cyanobacteria Blooms in Mattituck and Southampton

Sampling performed by SUNY Stony Brook has confirmed new cyanobacteria blooms, more commonly known as blue–green algae, in Lake Maratooka in Mattituck, Agawam Pond and Wickapogue Pond in Southampton, NY. 

Aerial Larvicide Notification

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of some salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.  Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day.
