If weather permits, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of the east end, Fire Island and other communities as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.

Researchers from the Suffolk County Department of Health Services have confirmed the presence of cyanobacteria (also known as blue-green algae) at Lake Ronkonkoma* off Pond Road, in the Town of Brookhaven.

If weather permits, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of Islip, East Islip, Great River, Oak Beach and Fire Island as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.
