Not Too Late to Benefit from Flu Vaccine

Noting that influenza activity usually peaks in January, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Health Commissioner Dr. James Tomarken are urging all residents who have not yet received this season’s flu vaccination to get one as soon as possible. Flu season runs from October through May.

Board of Review Hearing

The Board of Review hears requests for variances and waivers to the county’s requirements for water and sewage disposal for new construction, and for storage of toxic or hazardous materials, as stated in the Suffolk County Sanitary Code. A listing of each month’s scheduled hearings may be obtained in the days prior to the hearing by contacting the Department of Health Services’ Division of Environmental Quality at 852-5800.

World AIDS Day 2013 Long Island

December 1, 2013, marked the 25th annual observance of World AIDS Day. The Suffolk County Department of Health Services and its community partners encourage residents to do what they can this month to stop the spread of HIV, whether it is by getting tested, participating in outreach and educational events or donating to help find a cure. Following is a list of World AIDS Day events.
