STAR Credit

New York State facilitates a tax relief program known as the School Tax Relief (STAR) credit. If you own your home, it is your primary residence, and your income is $500,000 or less, you are eligible for the Basic STAR credit. If you are a senior citizen with a qualifying income, you may be eligible for the Enhanced STAR credit.

The Weatherization Assistance Program assists income eligible families and individuals by reducing their heating and cooling costs and addressing health and safely issues in their homes through energy-efficient measures.

Housing Choice Voucher Program

The housing choice voucher program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private market.

Mainstream Housing Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities

Vouchers are available to income eligible disabled applicants who are between the ages of 18 and 64, and are transitioning out of institutional or other segregated settings; or homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Family Self Sufficiency Program

The Family Self Sufficiency Program enables HUD-assisted families to increase their earned income and reduce their dependency on welfare assistance and rental subsidies.

Family Unification Program

The Family Unification Program is a program under which Housing Choice Vouchers are provided to families for whom the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the imminent placement of the family’s child or children in out-of-home care, or the delay in the discharge of the child or children to the family from out-of-home care.
