The Division of Preventive Medicine comprises both the Office of Health Education and the Bureau of Public Health Nursing.

The Office of Health Education conducts numerous programs for the community, schools, and public organizations and operates the Suffolk County Tobacco Enforcement Program. The greatest benefit from prevention and education programs is when residents make choices in favor of healthy living. Programs include:

- Certified Home Health Agency – in-home nursing and rehabilitative services for individuals who require home visits.
- Child Find Developmental Screenings for high-risk children up to 36 months old who do not qualify for Early Intervention services.
Division of Emergency Medical Services (631) 852-5080
The Emergency Medical Services Division is responsible for the administration and oversight of Suffolk County's Emergency Medical Services System and the training and certification of EMS personnel. The Division is also responsible for the overall coordination of the emergency system and the development of support services to aid in improving all phases of emergency medical care.

The Office of Minority Health strives to improve health outcomes and eliminate health disparities in minority populations by coordinating public health initiatives and implementing educational programs that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, in collaboration with community and faith based organizations.
