Cyanobacteria Bloom Found in Maratooka Lake in Mattituck

Stony Brook University has confirmed cyanobacteria blooms, more commonly known as blue–green algae, in Maratooka Lake in Mattituck.  Due to these findings, health officials ask residents not to use, swim or wade in these waters and to keep their pets and children away from the area. 

Aerial Larvicide Spraying Notice

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.

Suffolk County Offers Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS) and the Brookhaven Animal Shelter will offer free rabies vaccinations* for dogs, cats and ferrets as follows:
