ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE: up to $30,000 in down payment assistance
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: An Applicant Must:
- Be a First-Time Homebuyer (cannot have owned a home during the 3 year period immediately prior), waived for U.S. military veterans possessing a DD-214, verifying honorable service.
- Have a Total Household Income within the HUD Guidelines (listed in the application)
- Attend a mortgage counseling at a HUD certified non-profit housing agency
- Have at least $3,000 in the bank at the time of application
- Have a minimum annual household income of at least $40,000
- Be purchasing a home in the Suffolk County Consortium area
- Property to be purchased cannot exceed $532,000 for existing housing or $555,000 for new construction

Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact and Notice of Intent to Request Release of Funds
As indicated in the above link to the Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact and Notice of Intent to Request Release of Funds, on or about August 30, 2024 the County of Suffolk will submit a request to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the release of funds under a Community Project Funding (CPF) grant to undertake the Holbrook Sewer District and Sewering Project.
This Notice provides project information, information on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment (EA), the Finding of No Significant Impact and how public comments and objections to the release of funds can be made. Notice of Public Hearing - DRAFT - Suffolk County 2024 Annual Action Plan - June 12, 2024 @ 10:00 am
The Suffolk County Community Development Office has prepared a draft 2024 Annual Action Plan, which outlines the proposed activities that the County and its subgrantees and subrecipients will carry out during the County’s 2024 Program year.
The draft of the 2024 Annual Action Plan will be presented by the Suffolk County Community Development Office at a public hearing on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 10:00 am and subject to a 30-day public comment period from June 12, 2024 to July 11, 2024. Community Development Resources:
The Suffolk County Community Development Office, a unit within the Department of Economic Development and Planning, is specifically charged with developing projects designed to benefit persons of low and moderate incomes. Community Development is also charged with preventing or eliminating areas of slum or blight within our communities and assisting areas with urgent needs.
The Suffolk County Community Development Office administers these projects through the Suffolk County Community Development Consortium which includes 11 separate municipalities. Member communities include:

- Town of Southampton
- Town of Southold
- Village of Greenport
- Village of Sag Harbor

The Town of Huntington participates with the County in the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) only.
The activities of the Suffolk County Community Development Office are funded by the Federal Government through various programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Suffolk County receives federal entitlement funds under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program. In connection with the receipt of those funds, Suffolk County is required to submit a 5 Year Consolidated Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. A key component of the 5 Year Consolidated Plan is public comment and input.
The Consolidated Plan for Suffolk County, New York, represents a new 5 year plan covering the program years from 2020 to 2024, consolidating the CDBG and HOME entitlement funding into one submission. It has been prepared in accordance with 24CFR Part 91.
As a requirement of receiving Federal funds, Suffolk County has recently completed the final draft of its 2020 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice. The goal of this analysis is to identify a process to affirmatively further fair housing through an examination of the fair housing delivery system, housing transactions and housing patterns.
