About

The Suffolk County "No-Spray" Registry lets residents opt out of mosquito control spraying (aerosol and fog treatments) on their property. This law, effective August 19, 2001, ensures your property and a 150-foot buffer around it are avoided during ground spraying. Please note, the registry does not include mosquito larval control or spraying during public health emergencies.

How It Works

  1. Register: Fill out the "No-Spray" request form and submit it to Suffolk County Vector Control.
    1. Click Here to View and Download the Form
Please Note: Form requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free HERE
  2. Processing: The County has 20 workdays to add your property to the list.
  3. Exclusions: Your property and a 150-foot buffer are excluded from ground spraying.
  4. Exceptions: Public health emergencies may require spraying all areas, including registered No-Spray properties. If an aerial application or public health spray for adult control is being undertaken, persons on the No-Spray list will be contacted the day before the event to advise them of the upcoming spray.
  5. Impact: Keep in mind that opting out may affect mosquito control in your neighborhood.

What to Expect After You Register

Once you submit your completed No Spray Request Form here’s what you can expect:

  1. Confirmation and Processing
Suffolk County Vector Control will review your form and place your property on the registry within 20 business days.
  2. Spray Exclusion Zone Established
Your property will be excluded from adult mosquito spraying from trucks, including an area 150 feet on either side of your property along the street.
  3. Verification Access
A public map or list is be available (without personal details) so you can verify your registration, and neighbors can see which areas are excluded from spraying.
  4. Annual Check-In
Before each mosquito control season, you’ll be contacted to confirm whether you want to remain on the registry. If we don’t hear back, your registration may be removed.
  5. Health Emergency Exceptions
In the event of a public health emergency (e.g., West Nile Virus), your property may still be sprayed. We’ll attempt to contact you in advance, but notification is not guaranteed in emergencies.
