These two divisions work closely together on Capital Construction Programs for both new construction and retrofitting of existing County facilities. Building Design and Construction provides architectural design, space management, issuance of building permits and certificates of occupancy, and inspections during construction for all County-owned buildings and facilities. Facilities Engineering is responsible for the evaluation and implementation of conventional and alternative energy projects (including photovoltaic, wind, and compressed natural gas). The architects, engineers, and support staff in these divisions provide significant decision support and analytics, serving as building system and energy subject matter experts for all County departments.
