COVID-19 Related Items

As of September 12, 2023, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services is authorized to offer updated COVID-19 vaccines to only those Suffolk County residents who are uninsured or underinsured through the Vaccines for Children and Vaccines for Adults program.

CDC recommends the 2023–2024 updated COVID-19 vaccines.

Residents who have insurance that covers the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to receive their vaccines at their local pharmacies, health care providers offices, or local federally qualified health centers. You can locate a convenient vaccination site using the vaccine finder tool: https://www.vaccines.gov/search/

Residents who meet the qualifications to receive a vaccination at one of Suffolk County vaccination clinics may walk in to any of our clinics listed here to receive a vaccine.

First Mosquito Sample to Test Positive for West Nile Virus This Season

Suffolk County Health Services (SCDHS) Commissioner James L. Tomarken announced today that a mosquito sample has tested positive for West Nile virus. The sample, a Culex pipiens-restuans, was collected on July 2, 2014 in Lindenhurst. Additionally, an American robin, collected on July 3, 2014 in East Islip tested positive for the virus. This is the second bird that tested positive for West Nile virus this season. The department reported the first bird, also an American robin, on June 18, 2014.
