Five more mosquito samples test positive for West Nile viurs

Suffolk County Health Commissioner James L. Tomarken, MD, MPH, MBA, MSW, announced today that 5 more mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus. The samples, all Culex pipiens-restuans, were collected September 16th through September 18th from Farmingville (1), Bay Shore (2), Aquebogue (1) and Bridgehampton (1). 

Suffolk County Learns of Four EV-D68 Cases - Virus is present statewide

Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Services James Tomarken announced today that four cases of enterovirus-D68 (EV-D68) in Suffolk County have been confirmed by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). Dr. Tomarken asks that residents take precautions in order to contain the spread of the virus.

More Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Suffolk County Health Commissioner James L. Tomarken, MD, MPH, MBA, MSW, announced today that 11 more mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus. The samples, all Culex pipiens-restuans, were collected on September 9th and September 11th.  On September 9th, from Farmingville (1), Mastic Beach (1), East Northport (2), and Bay Shore (2). On September 11th, from West Babylon (2), North Patchogue (1), and Copaigue (2).
