Pesticide Application Scheduled for the Town of Babylon and Fire Island

Weather permitting, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections parts of the Town of Babylon and parts of Fire Island as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.

40 Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Suffolk County Health Commissioner James L. Tomarken, MD, MPH, MBA, MSW, announced today that 40 more mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus. 

Brentwood Health Center Remains Closed for Repairs

The Suffolk County Brentwood Family Health Center, which closed Wednesday, August 13, due to damage caused by flooding from heavy rains, will remain closed from Saturday through Monday, while repairs are underway. At this time, it is unclear when the health center will reopen. Further updates will be forthcoming. Currently, the closure affects all services, including adult, pediatric, WIC and family planning services and dental and mental health clinics. 

Suffolk County Joins New York Cancer Consortium in Rolling out Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan Dashboard

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services, in partnership with the New York State Cancer Consortium, today announced the launch of the New York State Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan Dashboard.

UPDATE: Pesticide Application Schedules

The aerial pesticide application to treat for West Nile virus that is scheduled for parts of Amityville, Copiague and Lindenhurst tonight has been canceled due to technical issues.  The treatment will be rescheduled once the system has been repaired.
