Board of Review Hearing

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Division of Environmental Quality will hold its regular monthly Board of Review hearing on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room at 360 Yaphank Ave., Suite 2C, Yaphank, NY 11980.

Board of Health Meetings Scheduled

In the event that a quorum cannot be achieved, the Board of Health meeting will be canceled.  It is advisable to call 631-854-0100 the day of the meeting to find out if the meeting will take place.  For directions to our new location or access to our offices, please call the number above.

Bellone, Tomarken Offer Remarks on Governor Cuomo’s Proclamation of Cancer Prevention Day

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Health Commissioner James Tomarken support Governor Cuomo’s proclamation naming February 4th  Cancer Prevention Day in New York.  The proclamation acknowledges the important effects of behavior and the environment on cancer risk and raises awareness about how behavior can greatly contribute to reduced cancer risk.

Alcohol and Substance Abuse Subcommittee of the Community Mental Hygiene Services Advisory Board

The mission of the Division of Community Mental Hygiene Services is to enable persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse and their families to access an appropriate array of services and supports to maximize an individual’s potential within the family and community.

Not Too Late to Benefit from Flu Vaccine

Noting that influenza activity usually peaks in January and February, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Health Commissioner Dr. James Tomarken are urging all residents who have not yet received this season’s flu vaccination to get one as soon as possible. Flu season runs from October through May.
