Lake Ronkonkoma Beach Open

The beach closure issued for Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in the Town of Islip has been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.

Community Mental Hygiene Services Advisory Board Meeting

The Community Mental Hygiene Services Advisory Board is made up of consumers, parents, advocates, professionals and agency providers who advise the Director of Community Mental Hygiene Services on issues facing the community. The board comprises three subcommittees: Mental Health, Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities*, and Alcohol & Substance Abuse. Meetings are open to the public.  Guests are asked to call in advance.

News Release

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS) is investigating a case of Hepatitis A virus in an individual who worked at the Driver’s Seat Restaurant, 62 Jobs Lane, Southampton, New York.  Patrons who consumed food or beverage at this establishment between August 6th and August 20th may have been exposed to Hepatitis A.  Preventive treatment for Hepatitis A virus can help to prevent or lessen the severity of illness when given within two weeks of exposure

Lake Ronkonkoma Beach Closes to Bathing

Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in the Town of Islip is closed to bathing due to the finding of Cyanobacteria (Blue-Green Algae) levels in excess of acceptable levels.

Mosquito Spraying

Weather permitting, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of the following communities as part of its ongoing annual effort to control the mosquito population.
