Sixth Human Case of West Nile Virus

Great River, NY – Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Services James L. Tomarken confirmed today a sixth human case of West Nile virus in Suffolk County this year.  The individual, who is over 50 years of age, resides in Brookhaven.  The patient was ill at the end of August, but was never hospitalized, and has fully recovered.

Board of Health Meeting Scheduled

In the event that a quorum cannot be achieved, the Board of Health meeting will be canceled.  It is advisable to call 631-854-0100 the day of the meeting to find out if the meeting will take place.

Suffolk County Disease Intervention Specialists Receive State Recognition

Great River, NY—Commissioner of Health Services James L. Tomarken this week presented Suffolk County’s Disease Intervention Specialists with certificates of recognition from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). 

Fifth Human Case of West Nile Virus

Great River, NY – Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Services James L. Tomarken confirmed today a fifth human case of West Nile virus in Suffolk County this year.  The individual, who is under 55 years of age, resides in Babylon.  The patient was admitted to the hospitalized in early October and displayed symptoms consistent with West Nile virus. The patient has been discharged

MEETING OF SUFFOLK COUNTY PESTICIDE COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE CANCELED

Due to continuing problems associated with Hurricane Sandy and today’s storm, it has been decided to cancel the meeting of the Suffolk County Pesticide Community Advisory Committee scheduled for tomorrow, November 8th.  Notification of the rescheduled meeting will be forthcoming.
