Diabetes Self-Management Education Series Scheduled for October and November

Suffolk County Department of Health Services Commissioner James L. Tomarken, MD, MPH, MBA, MSW, announced today that a series on diabetes self-management will be presented for county residents in the Amityville, Wyandanch, Shirley and Riverhead areas by the Department of Health Services in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County.

Second Human Case of West Nile Virus in Suffolk County

Hauppauge, NY – Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Services James L. Tomarken said today that the New York State Department of Health has confirmed a  human case of West Nile virus, the second human case in Suffolk County this year.

Bay Hill Property Owners Association Beach Reopened

The Department of Health Services, said today that the beach closure issued for Bay Hills Property Owners Association Beach in Huntington Bay has been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.
