Second Human Case of West Nile Virus in Suffolk County

Hauppauge, NY – Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Services James L. Tomarken said today that the New York State Department of Health has confirmed a  human case of West Nile virus, the second human case in Suffolk County this year. 

Bay Hill Property Owners Association Beach Reopened

The Department of Health Services, said today that the beach closure issued for Bay Hills Property Owners Association Beach in Huntington Bay has been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.

Vector Control

Weather permitting; the Suffolk County Department of Public Works is planning to treat sections of the following communities as part of their ongoing annual efforts to control adult mosquitoes.

Southold Town Beach Reopened

James L. Tomarken, MD, MPH, MBA, MSW, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, said today that the beach closure issued for Southold Town Beach in Southold has been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.

MEETING OF SUFFOLK COUNTY PESTICIDE COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Pesticide Advisory Committee was established through Local Law 34-1999, which was enacted for the purpose of phasing out the use of pesticides by the County for many pest control purposes.
