Suffolk County Offers Spanish Language Conference on Cancer Prevention

Riverhead, NY—The Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Office of Minority Health will host a conference about cancer prevention, early detection of cancer, resource availability, treatments and the importance of healthy, balanced nutrition. The conference, entitled “Step by Step…Let’s Achieve Good Health” or “Paso a Paso…Alcanzaremos Una Buena Salud,” is free and targeted to Suffolk County residents whose first language is Spanish. Peconic Bay Medical Center will provide dinner and prizes.

A meeting of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Health Center Advisory Board is scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012.

EMS Crew Saves Life

Bohemia, NY – Emergency Medical responders from the Community Ambulance Company in Sayville received an emergency call on Friday February 24, 2012, reporting that a male was having a seizure at Nature’s Bounty, located at 90 Orville Drive, Bohemia. Emergency service providers Tom Fealey, Christopher Gonzales, Rachel Ferlin, Paul Mastronardi, Brad Marcinek, James MacDonell, Christina Kelly, and Giuseppina Amendola responded promptly to the 12:00 p.m. call.

Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee of the Community Mental Hygiene Advisory Board

The next meeting of Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee of the Community Mental Hygiene Advisory Board is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
