Aerial Spraying for Mosquitoes

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of the following salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae. 

Ground Treatment for Mosquitoes Scheduled

If weather permits; the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of the following communities as part of its ongoing efforts to control adult mosquitoes.

Twelve Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Suffolk County Health Services (SCDHS) Commissioner James L. Tomarken announced today that twelve mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus.

Suffolk County Advisory against Bathing at 62 Beaches

Due to the heavy rainfall on Friday, July 29, 2016, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services has issued an advisory against bathing at 62 beaches.

Benjamin Beach and Lake Ronkonkoma Beach Closed to Bathing

Lake Ronkonkoma Beach, in the town of Islip, and Benjamin Beach in Bay Shore are closed to bathing due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria. The beach closure issued for Tanner Park Beach in Copiague has been lifted.
