Nine Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. James L. Tomarken announced today that nine mosquito samples and two birds have tested positive for West Nile virus.

Health officials today issued an advisory against bathing at Centerport Yacht Club as heavy rainfall has raised the potential for bacteria to be present at levels that exceed New York State standards.

Great Pond at Peconic Dunes Camp in Peconic Closed to Bathing

Great Pond at Peconic Dunes Camp in Peconic is closed due to the finding of bacteria at levels that exceed New York State standards. This is the second time this month the camp beach has been closed due to high levels of bacteria.
