Pesticide application scheduled

If weather permits, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works will treat sections of several south shore communities as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.

Aerial Larvicide notification

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control plans to treat parts of a number of salt marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.

Tanner Park Beach Closed to Bathing

Tanner Park Beach in Copiague is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacteria at levels that exceed New York State standards.


Tanner Park Beach, which closed on August 17, reopened on Sunday, August 23.



Twenty five Mosquito Samples Test Positive for West Nile virus

Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. James L. Tomarken announced today that twenty five mosquito samples and one bird have tested positive for West Nile virus.
